Jason is a USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach, F.I.S.T. Certified Professional Tri-Bike Fitter, Chief Financial Officer for the Santa Clarita Triathlon Club, Triathlete, Ultra-runner, Cyclist, Swimmer, Registered Professional Engineer and a native of California. Jason is currently a member of the L.A. Triathlon Club, Santa Clarita Triathlon Club & USA Triathlon. He spent his childhood in Northern California, college years along the Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo and now resides in Southern California with his wife and two young daughters.
During his High School years, Jason cycled, played roller hockey, recreationally skied and served as a Captain on both the football and track teams. During his sophomore year, he was honored by winning the C.I.F. Regional Pole Vault Championship. It was during this time period that Jason developed a genuine passion for running and endurance sports.
During his college years in San Luis Obispo, Jason continued to play organized roller hockey and was introduced to the wonderful world of mountain biking. After graduating with Honors and earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in December 1996, Jason moved to Southern California and now lives in Santa Clarita.
In an effort to say fit, Jason began marathon training in 1999. Since then, he has continued to train for them and has completed over ten marathons and a countless number of half marathons and other shorter running events. He is currently training for a 50 mile Ultra Marathon that will take place in July 2010.
Even though running is one of Jason’s biggest passions, he whole heartly fell in love with Triathlon in 2004. Since then, he has competed in over 25 triathlons that include four half ironman distance races (2 Wildflower Long Course finishes and 2 World’s Toughest Half finishes), one Ironman distance race in Coeur d’ Alene in 2007 and a series of Olympic and Sprint races to round out the number.
